Stones Gambling Hall at California announced they were halting their livestream and launching an evaluation following cheating allegations caused an uproar from the poker community.
The statement, made over Twitter Thursday, said that the casino hired lawyer Michael Lipman to direct up the fraud analysis. Before entering private practice, Lipman was an assistant U.S. lawyer chief of the Southern District of Californias fraud unit.
The investigation will concentrate on allegations that one of the gamers was needed access to this livestream data and managed to see different players hole cards. Postle proceeded on Mike Matusows tradition and denied that the allegations on Twitter.
At the podcast, Postle maintained that the stacks sizes posted on the flow — that people used to compute his winrate — are often incorrect and that individuals didnt know his playstyle.
Absolutely, completely. 10,000 percent, Postle explained when asked when he was innocentCould I move 100,000 percent?
The controversy started when Veronica Brill, a Stones employee and poker player, asked poker pro and streamer Joey Ingram to look into the play of Postle . Nothing turned up, although brill suspected Postle of cheating and stated that her concerns were reported by her about Stones Gambling Hall.
Ingram began reviewing hours of footage live on his display and found hands he considered questionable. Ingram published his findings on Reddit users and twitter and other TwoPlusTwo submitted their results online and joined in on the analysis.
Sleuths calculated his own winrate, Postles winnings and also came up with a date that the cheating started. They posted Postles winrate about the flow over famous Potripper graph.
Potripper was among the super-user accounts in the Ultimate Bet and Total Poker cheating scandal from back in 2008. Poker sleuths broke that cheating scandal. TwoPlusTwo users examined thousands of hands and discovered that a range of account had access to some non invasiveGod-mode that allow the users state everyones hole cards.
Former World collection of Poker Main Event Champion Russ Hamilton has been implicated in the scandal and records released years later allege to reveal Hamilton admitting to players of tens of thousands of dollars.
ThatGod-mode is exactly what Ingram and others guess Postle had in the Stones Gambling Hall. Live streams have decks where every card has its own RFID chip. That data is sent to the flow booth where its converted into graphics and superimposed on a video flow. This is done on a delay to prevent players from viewing commentators and cards report on the delayed stream.
The allegation is that Postle had reside access into the cards, that might have required help. The story gained a lot of traction that it was featured on SportsCenter:
Other pros like Doug Polk, Haralabos Voulgaris and Daniel Negreanu said they thought Postle cheated. The 2003 World Collection of Poker World Champion, chris Moneymaker defended Postle. Moneymaker had played the flow and understands Postle, however Moneymaker stated he wasnt so sure that he was naive, after reviewing a few of the hands .
