Tyrone Mings praises John Terry’s influence ahead of possible England debut

As a possible England introduction is prepared for by the Aston Villa defender tyrone Mings has praised the impact John Terry has had on his evolution.
Gareth Southgate ahead of the Qualifiers double-header against Bulgaria and Kosovo has called up mings in Wembley.
The 26-year-old was working together with England and Chelsea captain Terry – now assistant director at Villa Park – as January.
Mings’ loan spell with Villa was made permanent and he feels Terry has been a key impact on him.
“He’s developed my game for sure,” explained Mings.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with some excellent coaches through the years – [former Ipswich boss] Mick McCarthy; [Bournemouth manager] Eddie Howe; [Villa manager ] Dean Smith.
“John Terry is another fantastic example of somebody I will learn from, that has been there and achieved everything I’d want to achieve in the sport.
“To find out from him and require little pieces of advice from him is something I feel blessed to be in a position to do.
“We do a whole lot of work on clips and reviewing my own performances. So I feel like I’m at a really good place and that I have a really good mentor to learn .”
Mings he can gauge by how individuals are speaking about him, how good a game he’s had have been told by terry.
“He tries to let me go through a game without being seen without being mentioned,” added Mings.
“He says that is a good manifestation of a centre-back’s functionality – if they are off the pitch and no one really knows what they have done and they have quietly gone about their company. So that is something I am trying to do more.
“Following a game we will watch clips of the game back and he’ll then tell me what he likes and what he doesn’t like.
“He has worked under such fantastic managers and he’s obviously got all the experience I would love to have, so things he tells me actually stick and we then try to execute that on the practice pitch and work through different things.
“He gives me a tiny bit of criticism however at the moment it is a lot of positivity.”
